PTEC Position Statement
In addition, the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners (JCPP) has created a "vision" of how pharmacy should be practiced in 2015. Commonly referred to as the 2015 Vision, this statement and the accompanying action plan are shaping the activities of many national pharmacy professional groups.
PTEC Goals
The members of PTEC strongly recommend all pharmacy technician education and training programs have one representative as a member of PTEC. The members of PTEC strongly urge all pharmacy technician education and training programs earn accreditation by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).
In the short term, PTEC will:
- Work with other pharmacy related organizations to standardize pharmacy technician education and training.

Advocate a for the career of the pharmacy technician through representation at pharmacy organization meetings, in the spirit of promoting cooperation and collaboration with pharmacy technicians, education and training.
In the long term, PTEC will:
- Continue to advocate that all technician training programs strive for compliance with the current ASHP model curriculum.
- Advocate that all pharmacy technicians complete a formal training program, and participate in accredited continuing education programs.
