PTEC Position Statement

PTEC recommends that all pharmacy technicians in all states and territories of the United States of America and beyond complete a formal education and training program as a prerequisite for the Pharmacy Technician certification examination (PTCE) and licensure.

The following organizations have issued the following documents which support the goals and statements made by the Pharmacy Technician Educators Council.  PTEC endorses and supports the views and statements made in these documents.

National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) Report of the Taskforce on Pharmacy Technician Education
and Training Programs, October 2009.  (PDF, 49KB)

In addition, the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners (JCPP) has created a "vision" of how pharmacy should be practiced in 2015.  Commonly referred to as the 2015 Vision, this statement and the accompanying action plan are shaping the activities of many national pharmacy professional groups.
